Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods: The Way Forward
Join us on March 24, 2025, in Brussels for a landmark event celebrating over five years of pioneering work to advance Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods (SPENs) across Europe. This conference marks the culmination of the EU-funded syn.ikia project and highlights its achievements in delivering innovative solutions for sustainable living.
Since its launch in January 2020, syn.ikia has brought together Housing Europe and 12 partners from seven European countries, including social housing providers from the Netherlands, Austria, and Spain. Our goal: to increase the adoption of plus energy buildings in Europe and develop a comprehensive blueprint for creating SPENs.
As part of this initiative, we’ve piloted four real-life neighbourhoods, demonstrating the feasibility of SPEN solutions across diverse contexts and markets. The event will feature keynotes from academia and industry experts, live demonstrations of SPEN technologies, and engaging panel discussions on policy, finance, and the future of sustainable neighbourhoods.
